Amazon River says 'New Macrocosm is safe to play' disdain anecdotal reports of bricked GPUs

We've been reporting on the reportedly nontextual matter circuit board bricking antics of Amazon's New World, an MMO that's been dividing the PC Gamer team and hate-played to wolf death by our Fraser, since it first broke cover in closed beta. Now it's prohibited for reals and in that respect are still reports that players of New World are determination their hardware irrevocably b0rked, blaming the game for their technical school failures.
Looking at through the New Planetary support forums, and combining reports from my personal inbox, I've counted more than than 20 instances of reported dead GPUs. But in that location are also hundreds of reports of regularly crashing PCs, and promote claims of bricked graphics cards crossways packed reddit threads with hundreds or thousands of comments.
Amazon, for its part, is convinced some ironware that is falling o'er has nothing to do with its back, ringing its same stance around the closed beta.
"We cause received a small number of reports of players encountering issues with GeForce RTX cards," Amazon tells us in a statement. "After a lengthy investigation, we consume verified that there is no unusual behavior from New World that causes these issues. EVGA has previously acknowledged manufacturing issues on some GeForce RTX card game.
"Brand-new World is safe to play, and we boost players who have encountered a hardware issue to liaison the manufacturer."
When EVGA admitted the shift with its GPUs it expressed that only around twenty-four RTX 3090 GPUs that had unsuccessful during the closed beta, which should give you many idea of the scale of the problem.
As we've said in our reports on the matter before, we've had Unused World running on many different PCs around the power, and across our international team of PC Gamers, and not one of our systems has blown up. And Alan has a tendency to break hardware; exhibit one is the mess up atomic number 2's made of his fresh Windows 11 installation.
But that doesn't change the fact at that place are many forum posts impermissible there accusatory New World of being the effort of end for many a GPU. My possess email inbox contains not few anecdotal accounts of brick by MMO, too.
So, who's right and who's unjust? I have to say my instinct is to almost side with Amazon. No, I'm not subsequently a trip in Jeff's phallic rocket, gratis, I impartial don't believe on that point is anything actually in New World's encrypt that specifically bricks GPUs. What I recall might be happening is that some parts of that cipher may put a level of stress on a graphics card OR PSU that, if there are any subjacent issues therewith tech—issues that other games may not highlight still foresighted they'ray played for—then those will resuscitate the fore with Hemisphere. And potentially in pretty catastrophic ways.
In our testing we've noted increased load around changing options in the settings screen, and there is also a write up of New World ignoring power limits specified in software.
I mean, Furmark can be pretty damaging if your hardware is not up to mummy-brown, and you wouldn't necessarily incriminate that of bricking your GPU when you're stress testing a system. Though much a comparison doesn't come out as peculiarly favourable for Amazon River's code; an MMO with such reasonable system requirements absolutely should not be putting so much stress happening a PC that parts of it make the like a military honorary society and start fugacious KO'd.
In the end then New World probably is riskless to play, so long arsenic your system is able to pass the Amazon stress quiz.
